    The Spiritual Emergency Manual (4).

(or how to tap into God in the middle of a crisis)

All of us at one time or another have circumstances that can seem overwhelming.  We want to be encouraged in God, but feel we can’t hear from Him.  Or we forget where all those promises are in the Bible.  The Bible is God’s promises.  You can believe them as if they were written to you.  If you struggle with that, read , God, UNPLUGGED! to help you decide if the Bible is valid and powerful.  CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1

God’s Word on Wealth

Many people struggle with concepts of what God says about money. The verses, “the love of money is the root of all evil” and “you can’t serve both God and money” have made people think that being poor is spiritual. Yet God gave wealth to Abraham, Solomon and many others as a blessing, not a curse.  God was displeased with those who made decisions based only on money rather than God’s will.  Jesus said to put God first and God will make sure the money-thing is handled (Matt 6:33).  Jesus included our finances as one of the benefits of His coming among the proclamations of other physical miracles that would happen.

Jesus replied, “Go back and report to John what you hear and see: 5 The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor  - Matt 11:4

Notice that there was specific - practical promise of relief IN THIS WORLD just as there was to the blind, sick and lame.  He came to give us FREEDOM, by taking away EVERY reason Satan might have to stand before GOD and demand penalties for what we've done in our past or currently.  GOD being a JUST God, wouldn't play favorites - but now can honestly say JESUS paid the penalty for every accusation - leaving those of us who have accepted Christ as our LORD and SAVIOUR - completely free to expect and receive blessings from God.

Where do I get wealth?

You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today. Deut 8:17-18

 Need to encourage someone?

Wear the Power!

Eccl 5:19 Moreover, when God gives any man wealth and possessions, and enables him to enjoy them, to accept his lot and be happy in his work - this is a gift of God.

Matt 7:7-9 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. “Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?

10 Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 11 If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!

Prov 22:4 Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life.

Prov 3:9-10 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first-fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

Prov 11:24 One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. 25 A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

How do I know God wants me to prosper?

Rom 8:32  He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all— how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

2 Cor 9:11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

Jer 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.  12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.  13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Matt 6:31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

What will steal your wealth?

Luke 16:12 And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own? 13 “No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.”

Prov 10:4 Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

Prv 21:17 He who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich.

Prv 22:16 He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and he who gives gifts to the rich -both come to poverty.

Prv 23:5 Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.

Prv 29:3 A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.

Prv 17:20 A man of perverse heart does not prosper; he whose tongue is deceitful falls into trouble.

Prv 28:13 He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

Jer 10:21 The shepherds are senseless and do not inquire of the LORD; so they do not prosper and all their flock is scattered.

Hosea 4:6 ...my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge. “Because you have rejected knowledge, I also reject you as my priests; because you have ignored the law of your God, I also will ignore your children.

Emergency Prayers

The Most Powerful Prayer:

  1. Ask for God's Will in your circumstance.(even above what you desire)
  2. Talk to God about it including asking Him to show you the WHY it is happening and what you can learn from it.
  3. Ask God to show you the BIG picture and the little snapshot of how to walk toward it.

Jer 17:14  Heal me, O LORD, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.

Ps 90:13-17  Relent, O LORD! How long will it be? Have compassion on your servants.  Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.  Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble.  May your deeds be shown to your servants, your splendor to their children.  May the favor of the Lord our God rest upon us; establish the work of our hands for us— yes, establish the work of our hands.

Ps 40:11-17  Thou, O LORD, wilt not withhold Thy compassion from me; Thy lovingkindness and Thy truth will continually preserve me.  For evils beyond number have surrounded me; My iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to see; they are more numerous than the hairs of my head; and my heart has failed me.  Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; make haste, O LORD, to help me.  Let those be ashamed and humiliated together who seek my life to destroy it; let those be turned back and dishonored who delight in my hurt.  Let those be appalled because of their shame who say to me, “Aha, aha!”  Let all who seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee; let those who love Thy salvation say continually, “The LORD be magnified!”  Since I am afflicted and needy, let the Lord be mindful of me; Thou art my help and my deliverer; do not delay, O my God.  (NAS)

Ps 62:5-11  My soul, wait in silence for God only, for my hope is from Him.  He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.  On God my salvation and my glory rest; the rock of my strength, my refuge is in God.  Trust in Him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.  Men of low degree are only vanity, and men of rank are a lie; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than breath.  Do not trust in oppression, and do not vainly hope in robbery; if riches increase, do not set your heart upon them.  Once God has spoken; twice I have heard this: that power belongs to God;  (NAS)
